Towards a circular Integrated Agri-Aquaculture System (IAAS) adapted for salt-affected areas

Objectives

  1. Impact assessment of different fish biomasses on the growth, yield and quality of halophytic vegetables.

  2. Evaluation of the fish sludge on Salicornia growth and performance in the open field.

  3. Assessment of the salts leaching in the soil and groundwater using liner ground ponds for Salicornia farming after irrigating with highly saline water (>35 dS/m).

  4. Rehabilitation of the degraded soil because of long-term application of high saline water (>35 dS/m) and bring back into production.

  5. Investigation of how the proposed interventions can increase the circularity of the IAAS to improve ecological/ carbon footprint.
