Dubai, December 9, 2015: Interview with H.E. Dr. Soufian Sultan, Minister of Agriculture of Palestine, following the signing of a new agreement with ICBA to collaborate on solving water and land salinity in Palestine:

We in Palestine, like in other parts of the greater Arab World, suffer from many agricultural constraints such as water and land salinity and lack of fodder.

We know that there is considerable advanced research at ICBA in this field. Our relationship [with ICBA] is not recent. It has a long history.

Our cooperation covers joint projects and knowledge exchange in the field of livestock and fodder development, solving water salinity and related issues, and using treated wastewater [in agriculture].
There is continued collaboration and exchange of experience.
There is great support for Palestine in terms of capacity building and training. A number of scientists from Palestine have already been trained at ICBA.

In my capacity as Minister of Agriculture, and as part of my visit to the United Arab Emirates, I am here to sign an agreement with the Minister of Environment and Water of the UAE on mutual collaboration between the UAE and Palestine. I also participated in the opening of the International Dates Festival in Abu Dhabi.

And part of my agenda during this visit was to reiterate the importance of collaboration with ICBA, to ensure continuous collaboration and assess the previous collaboration, and look forward to the next phase and how to benefit from the various programs and results achieved at ICBA in agriculture in general and to exchange crops that could be grown in Palestine, based on the results achieved by ICBA in various locations with a similar environment.
