His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi is the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), which is an autonomous national funding institution established by the Government of Abu Dhabi in 1971. It offers development aid and programs in the form of concessionary loans, government grants and technical assistance to developing countries in support of their economic and social objectives. H.E. Al Suwaidi has been the Director General of ADFD since 2008. In his previous role, he served as the Director of the Operations Department where he actively managed the core business of the Fund.
H.E. Al Suwaidi has over 24 years of experience in the fields of finance, business management, infrastructural development and administration of institutional activities. He has been instrumental in leading the Fund’s activities delivering development assistance in excess of 80 billion AED benefitting over 80 nations, and has effectively managed the multi-billion dollar financial resources of ADFD. In addition, H.E. Al Suwaidi is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Farms for Livestock Production which is the biggest of its kind in the UAE. He is also the Alternate Governor, representing the UAE, at the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Moreover, he also serves as a board member of many institutions such as the First Abu Dhabi Bank (post-merger), the Food Security Centre – Abu Dhabi, Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club, UAE Red Crescent Authority, Agthia Group, Raysut Cement Company and Maroc Telecom, as well as many international institutions and entities.
H.E. Al Suwaidi holds a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration from the California Baptist University, USA. He has also undertaken many intensive technical, administrative and leadership training programs.
