Dr. Rashid Mbaziira is Senior Scientist in Marginal Water Management. He joined ICBA in March 2020. With a background in financial analysis and strategy, he has over 18 years of professional experience in program development and investment planning; project and business management operations; and monitoring and evaluation.
He is an alumnus of the University of Oxford’s Centre for Water Research where he specialized in Water Science, Policy and Management. His professional experience combines financial management; private sector development; and institutional development, reform and adaptation in water and the environment.
Over the past nine years, he has been at the forefront of efforts to formulate and implement policy interventions to improve the financing and investment outlook for water resources management in Africa; improve access to water for domestic use and economic production; enhance resilience to climate change and water-related disaster risks; strengthen information systems for water resources monitoring and assessment; and improve environmental integrity through wastewater and water quality management.
Prior to that, he had worked in the private sector leading the provision of technical advisory services to governments and intergovernmental organizations within the broad themes of general water sector reform and institutional training; water resources planning, allocation, regulation, assessment, monitoring and information management; water quality management; transboundary water resources governance; and knowledge management and information dissemination.
