Dr. Mohamed Amrani, Director of Research and Innovation at the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), and Dr. Shabbir Shahid, Senior Soil Scientist at ICBA, just ended a three-day mission, 1–3 July 2013, to Mauritania. Dr. Amrani and Dr. Shabir had ministerial and high level meetings and discussed different collaborative projects namely Mauritania soil survey, biosaline agriculture, and capacity building of research division.

ICBA delegation met H.E. Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, and H.E. Mohamed Ould Aida, Minister of Rural Development. Prior to the meetings with the ministers, ICBA delegation met with senior management of the Ministry of Rural Development including Mohamed Ould Ahmed Aida, Secretary General; Baba Ahmed Ould Naghra, Director General; Ibrahim Ould Ahmad, Director of Research, Training and Extension; and Ismail Ahmed, Department of Planning, Evaluation and Monitoring. In addition, ICBA delegation met with Mr. Mohamed El Moctar Mohamed Taleb, Director of Hydrology in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation. During these meetings ICBA delegates shared their experience on soil mapping for the State of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
