Internship - Youth Engagement
The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture(ICBA) is an international, non-profit agricultural research center established in 1999 through the visionary leadership of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Fund, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), and the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). ICBA is a unique applied agricultural research center in the world that is focused on marginal areas where an estimated 1.7 billion people live. It identifies, tests and introduces resource-efficient, climate-smart crops and technologies that are best suited to different regions affected by salinity, water scarcity and drought. Through its work, ICBA helps to improve food security and livelihoods for some of the poorest rural communities around the world. The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) is a non-profit applied agricultural research center that addresses food security and sustainable livelihoods in saline and arid environments. The ICBA Youth Engagement Strategy (ICBA YES) aims to foster meaningful involvement of young people in science, innovation, and sustainability by offering platforms for leadership, learning, and action.
The ICBA YES program supports youth-led initiatives, organizes innovation challenges, builds partnerships with universities, and develops science communication and capacity-building resources for youth audiences.
This internship offers an opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of youth engagement projects and activities under the ICBA YES program. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting strategic programming, communications, outreach, and events management.
The intern will support the following programmatic areas:
A. Youth Innovation and Leadership Development
Support in update guideline and governance re Youth engagement at ICBA
Develop calendar of activities and events for the center.
Support the planning and implementation of youth innovation competitions or hackathons.
Help coordinate mentorship sessions and follow-up engagement with challenge participants.
B. ICBA YES Digital Engagement
Draft and schedule youth-focused content (e.g., profiles, insights, events) across ICBA’s social media channels and website.
Assist in compiling the monthly ICBA YES newsletter.
C. Events and Outreach
Provide logistical and administrative support for workshops, webinars, university partnerships, and community outreach activities.
Help develop materials such as agendas, participant lists, concept notes, and post-event reports.
Participate in Emirates the Emirates Agriculture Conference and Exhibition will be held at ADNEC Centre Al Ain
D. Research and Program Development
Conduct desk research on Local, global and regional youth engagement strategies and opportunities.
Map youth networks, organizations, and educational institutions for potential partnerships.
E. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
Assist in designing and disseminating feedback surveys for youth activities.
Help analyze feedback data and contribute to reports on program impact.
- Pursuing/completed University Degree.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage events.
- Ability to create/write content for social media.
NOTE - Monthly Stipend - AED 1,000
The candidate should currently be available in the UAE with a valid UAE residency.
