Technical Support In Agricultural Policies

Job Summary

Provide technical support to a project on Climate Resilient and Gender-inclusive Cropping Systems with Nutrient Dense Crops in Climate Vulnerable Areas in Asia and the Pacific in target countries.

Job Responsibilities

The intern is expected to assist the  Project Leader with the below responsibilities:

  • Identify main constraints and challenges facing male and female farmers in vulnerable areas as well as market-demand, consumer-acceptance and opportunities for women’s empowerment in the introduction of climate smart and nutrient dense crops for strengthening existing food systems to achieve food and nutrition security in the target countries
  • Analysis of adoptability of innovations and available technologies for promoting more resilient and efficient food systems in the target countries
  • Analysis of local capacity to develop enabling policies, research and development, and extension services to shift towards resilient and inclusive food systems in the target countries 
  • Develop a position paper on challenge and opportunity for a climate resilient and sustainable agriculture in vulnerable environment in target countries prepared
  • Provide inputs to climate resilient agriculture GCF proposal(s) in target countries with a focus on adaptation and mitigation in climate vulnerable environments
  • Develop recommendations for gender-sensitive policy, technical innovations and capacity building to promote the production and consumption of climate smart and nutrient dense crops for food and nutrition security in target countries 

 

Stipend - AED 3,800 per month

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Rural Development Studies, International Relations or equivalent degree in Social Science
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Understanding of market studies, familiarity with policy recommendation and formulation in the agricultural sector
