    Dr. Merle Jensen is the founder of the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) and Professor Emeritus of Plant Life Sciences at the University of Arizona, USA. He has worked in the field for over four decades and has supported agricultural programs in over 60 countries around the world.

    The study was part of the Rehabilitation and Management of Salt-affected Soils to Improve Agricultural Productivity (RAMSAP) project. Funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the five-year project (2015-2019) is aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, food security and income for smallholder farmers, agro-pastoral/pastoral communities in Ethiopia and South Sudan.

    The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an international innovation center for the Aral Sea Basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    The experts convened in Dubai, UAE, on 25-26 September 2018 at an international policy workshop, which was organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), and the National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC) of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, USA.

    Alternative, non-traditional crops and technologies can play an important role in contributing to future food security in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was one of the main points made during an open day and round-table discussions attended by H.E. Mariam Bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of State for Future Food Security, at International Center for Biosaline Agriculture, the winner of the Best Arab Research Center at the Best Arab Awards in 2017.

    Scientists from ICBA introduced a low-cost irrigation system, known as the Californian irrigation system, in Mali and other countries among groups of smallholder farmers who grow a variety of crops.
